our san diego trip

we just spent the past five days in san diego. we stayed at a resort off of mission beach, and porter was able to get in the ocean for the first time. he loved it. he was pretty careful at first, running in when the tide went out, and running back when the tide came in. but once he saw daddy get in he braved it. we went to sea world twice. we swam at the pool. we went to the beach. we ate at some yummy california restaurants. we played. hard. we didn't let the poor boy sleep enough, and he was tired a lot. but we crammed it all in.

Anticipated Game Day

Saturday we attended the FSU v. BYU game. It was such an exciting sporting event. We were jumping up and down out of our seats the entire game! We were high fiving FSU fans that we have never met before. My good friend Sarah Nelson decided to start texting me during the game with some good natured trash talk. Sorry Sarah, you were dead wrong... ha! It was wierd going to the stadium not for BYU this time because we are normally ALWAYS cheering for BYU. Jared flew out to the BYU v. OK game the other weekend. But, the one thing the Florida State fans kept chanting throughout the game was, "this aint Oklahoma!" Ha, gotta love the noles! (It's cute to see all the nieces and nephews in their gear because pretty much all of Jared's childhood pictures is in the same thing!)

our idaho trip

we're back from idaho! we had such a great time seeing kristen and darling little nathan. kristen, i still can't get over how good a baby he is! i'm not sure i believe that he really does cry? we were on the go the whole time- we went to the splash park, the park, the sand dunes, the herriman state park, hiking, the hayes ranch, multiple restaurants... porter and i loved it. lets make it a regular thing!

idaho, here we come!

headed off for a couple days of girl time with one of my bestest friends! get to meet her new little boy, get to chat, catch up, reminisce, and HAVE FUN! we'll be beack just in time for the byu/fsu game on saturday. don't worry guys, we are rooting for FSU! so if you're not going to the game, then look for us on tv, we will be the only fans in garnet and gold! lol. until then... idaho, here we come! boo ya!

porter in training

as most of you may know i don't hear very well. i rarely hear my cell phone ring, i don't hear the doorbell if i am upstairs, i can't hear when someone whispers to me, and... well, the list goes on. things are starting to look up. i've got my little helper. he started doing this on his own, he must have heard jared yell this one too many times in his lifetime. because we are on our own during the day, it is actually coming in handy. thank you, sunshine!

jen, i am really sorry... i think we tortured little jacob for nothing! i'm not really used to taking pictures inside and figuring out lighting, so you might want to run this little guy down to sears or target before he gets any bigger! i can't get over his chunky cheeks... those are some good cheeks for kissing! and just scroll down a little bit to see a couple of ryan's pictures. i will put all of them on a cd for you. but really, i think you should take jacob in to the studio. happy grandparent's day!

i was just writing something on my calendar when i noticed that today says "GRANDPARENTS DAY". i am not sure if this is a holiday or something (sorry if i dropped the ball), but i just happened to notice it. so here is a shoutout... a happy grandparents day to all the grandparents in my life!

grandma porter-
she keeps me on my toes, keeps me laughing, tells me how much she loves me every time i see her, encourages me to develop my talents

grandpa koerner-
we didn't get to see grandpa as much since he lived further away, but he always let us raid his snacks which were clearly "HIS" snacks. among the list, includes fritos, oatmeal cookies from the box, and corn-nuts. he makes sure he sends us a christmas gift every year, and always gives us a great big bear hug when we see him.

grandma and grandpa porter (my parents)-
porter loves seeing grandma and grandpa and all of the love and attention that they show him. he loves taking the lime light when he is in their presence and i can tell that he enjoys showing off for them. i know how much they love him because they now sometimes forget to ask how we are doing and ask all about porter. he's my pride and joy so i am more than willing to share. i love that.

grandma and grandad robbins (jared's parents)-
porter had the privilege of having his grandparents stay in his home for a couple weeks before they left on their mission. this was when he began to call all grandmas and grandpas "umpa". he would jump up and down every time they got home from the MTC. they always like to take him with them on errands without us so that they have his 100% attention. like my parents, they think porter is a special little guy and we of course couldn't agree more.

we are blessed to have such great grandparents in our lives, and hope you all had a wonderful "GRANDPARENTS DAY" even if you're like me you didn't even know it existed! love you all.

grandma porter came to visit!

jared flew out to texas this past weekend for the AWESOME byu game. i wasn't too excited about being home alone so i talked my mom into coming out! i was so glad to have her company, and porter was too. he was pretty attached... as in, he had a complete meltdown when we dropped her off at the airport! so i didn't take pictures the entire time, but we did take her up to one of our favorite places- sundance. we took the lift up the mountain and hiked around a little. the rest of the trip was spent visiting, shopping, going on walks, etc. we can't wait to see her and grandpa in a couple weeks at DISNEYLAND!
