porter's birthday party, 2009

this year we had porter's birthday party at "The Little Gym" where he goes to gymnastics every week. it was a great experience, soooo easy for me! the kids got to run wild and play. there were a couple of girls there that played games with them every once in a while. porter was finally grasping the birthday thing at his party, i think. he got this bashful little smile on his face when they sang happy birthday to him, it was cute. everything was pretty much perfect, except when it came time to open gifts. remember my story about the "flyboat"? well, that was the 1st gift he opened (my fault)... and he was COMPLETELY uninterested in opening gifts after that. finally jared told all the kids to open a gift and they all played with the toys until it was time to go. i have to tell anyone that was there, that he has had so much fun playing with ALL of his toys since his party. he is in toy heaven these days. i think his toy stash doubled after his birthday. thanks to everyone who came out and made porter feel special on his birthday!
