last night porter visited Santa at the mall. i don't have pictures because i didn't have my camera, and didn't want to pay $25 for them to take a picture for me. i know, bad mom.
so, porter was far more friendly than i thought he would be. he said "hi Santa" and gave him a big hug and said "i love you". then santa asked him what toy he wanted for Christmas and porter got a shy little smile on his face and said " a CHOO CHOO train." it was cute. Santa then reminded him to make sure he left him some cookies and some carrots for his reindeer. porter said "cookies?" and then "okay". then he told him "bye-bye" and "i love you" again. it was pretty dang cute.
i love Christmas, especially with my little boy to enjoy it with. we went to the Christmas light show in spanish fork the other night, and he loved it. i loved the christmas music and hearing porter recognize all of the items in the lights. his favorite was the castle and the penguins. we drove through it three or four times! love this time of year.... except for the FREEZING COLD weather!! merry christmas!
oh yeah! i forgot to mention my other porter experience this night, so i am adding it into this post. we were hanging around the mall during the long restaurant wait with some other family members we were with, and porter started to wander off. usually i just grab him, but tonight i was curious to see how far he would go "without" us. i followed discreetly without letting him know i was near. he went through the entire food court and once he was out of the food court, he came to the banister. he knelt down and looked at the happenings below. this was the first time he turned around to see if anyone was with him. he didn't see me. he then ventured further away from where we were originally and made his way into the precision mountain-wear store. he went straight to the back of the store and into the dressing rooms. he went into a room and shut the door. by the time he came out he saw me. he ran to the corner of the store, and i had to run this time to keep up with him. i got to the corner and i couldn't see him anymore. i frantically weaved in between the racks looking for him... surely, he couldn't have gotten that far. a nearby rack of clothes was swaying. sure enough, he was in the middle of the rack... completely hidden from sight. it was a bit scary, and in a way kind of amusing to see what my barely two year old child would do all by himself, with no one to hold him back and tell him no. he didn't cry for his mommy like i hoped maybe he'd do, or have a freak out moment. he explored. fearless.

That Santa story is so sweet! Really life just gets more and more fun...I love the holidays! P.S. The part you added on about Porter wandering off is so scary. I can't believe he would go that far. It just makes you realize how important it is to keep a close eye on him!
We did the same thing with Drew once when he was about Porters age also at the mall. The stinker took off too and NEVER even looked back. Scary for sure.
