Less than one week until we leave for our Hawaiian vacation. I am scrambling trying to fill our trip with fun things to do. And it has dawned on me that the best advice I am going to get is from those that have been there before.
So! If you have been to Hawaii before please tell me what were some of your favorite things to do. We are going to be on the big island, and are staying in Honolulu.
I'm really hoping for some tips! It will make things so much easier. MUCHO GRACIAS!

ummm . . . are you staying on the big island or in Honolulu . . .
honolulu is on Oahu and is NOT the big island. If you are in honolulu then I have some great places to see, if not . . . I don't know anything about the big island.
If you are on Oahu - check out Hanama(sp?) Bay, Pearl Harbor, we wanted to do the Honolulu Zoo but ran out of time.
Hanauma Bay really is the best! Kendal and I love snorkeling. The Polynesian Cultural Center, Honolulu temple, walking the waikiki strip to the outdoor market, hiking--we hiked Diamond Head (I don't remember it being too hard if you took your time, but you might want to read up on it since you are pregnant), Pearl Harbor, and just plain relaxing! We love Hawaii...I am so jealous!
My mom said that they can get you in to the Polynesian Cultural Center for like $15. I think it is a lot more than that normally.
Definitely go to the North Shore on 1 or 2 days, all the locals go there, while tourists are usually all over honolul/waikiki - spending money there. The North Shore has all surfing/boogie boarding and likely fewer crowds! Also on the NShore: the polynesian cultural center -- everyone who works there is practically LDS! Its great. Also, the Temple, Temple Beach (boogie boarding) (across the street roughly from BYUH and the Temple), the cute town of Haliewa (pronounced Hali EVA) is great for SNOWCONES -- the BEST you'll ever have, we've been many times and you will never get a better snowcone. Also, I like the Dole Pineapple plantation which is on your way to the north shore and they have these Dole pineapple whips - like froyo and icecream made of pineapple juice -- yum! and fun gift shops and cool stuff to explore -- does not take very long, so I love it. Hanauma Bay is a give in -- you can not wear sun block b/c they are very protective of the fish, you need to wear a shirt or tank top to avoid a major burn -- bring your snorkel gear or prepare to rent some-- its great! Also, watch out for prickly things in the water -- a lot of these sting you and its very painful!!! If this happens, urine is literally the antidote, so unless you want to be pee'd on... its true! I'm Jealous of your trip! Have a great time. Did you ever post pics of San Diego? CMG
Okay, Chelsea said basically most of what I was going to say, but I have to second her snow cone advice and the pineapple plantation! Best snow cones in the world on the north shore and seriously... the pineapple plantation has the best chocolate covered pineapple... yum! You make me want to visit Oahu all over again!
Well, I think all the advice has been covered. Everyone has pretty listed the things I loved in Hawaii, so just have fun and remember to take time to relax too.
Thanks everyone. I assumed we were on the big island since it is the main one where everyone goes. We are going to be on Oahu which I have been told IS NOT the big island. So sorry for the confusion there. I'm glad to get all your advice, some of these things I had seen suggested online but wondered if they really were fun, so I am glad to hear. Great advice! I appreciate it. Will be sharing pictures of all our happenings when we return!
so you are going to Oahu . . .it is THE BEST! I am so jealous! I second what everyone said, but I like snorkling at Sharks cove, it isn't as swarming with fish, but there are alot fewer people too (it is on the north shore.)
My favorite memory was renting mopeds in the city and riding them around Waikiki and up to a beautiful waterfall.
I also would say to go to the swapmeet near pearl Harbor (it is in a stadium . . . ask anyone they will know) When I was there it was every wednesday. Seeing the west side compared to the east side is cool. One side is more of a desert, the other is really lush and green.
Have so much fun!
