Prophets

This blog is the closest thing to a journal I have right now, and I need to be better at recording things that are more personal and may not always include enticing pictures.  For the past, almost year now, I have been reading the biographies of the living and a past apostle of the Mormon Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints).  It has not only been enjoyable reading, it has been so interesting to learn about these remarkable men and what their lives have been like from childhood on.  Just like you and I, these remarkable men have suffered through a lot of hardships, they have had financial highs and lows, they have real families, and it all continues as they are serving our Heavenly Father.  I am blown away at the selflessness of these men, the insane amount of time that they spend day in and out doing nothing but serving others.  Reading about their lives lifts me up, makes me want to be better, do more, and most of all to be better qualified to have the Spirit of the Lord with me throughout each day.  It seems as I read through their lives and journal excerpts there are endless experiences where they are prompted in one way or another and immediately can see why the Lord was guiding them.  When I was baptized I received the gift of the Holy Spirit and I know that just like these men, that I can receive personal guidance in my own life.  What I have noticed while reading these biographies is that the Lord gives us opportunities to heed those promptings, and when we follow them, he trusts us to give us more promptings because he knows that we will do as he has asked.  I am so grateful for these amazing examples, and for the blessing it is to have a living Prophet on the earth today, and that the same gospel and same keys that were set up by the Savior while he was alive, have been restored back to the Earth.  I am so thankful for Jesus Christ and his perfect example, and for what he has done for me personally.  He lifts me up during my trials, he listens to my earnest prayers, and guides my life.  I just feel this overwhelming appreciation right now, and incredible pure happiness!  My life is so full.

This isn't from the books but I recently watched it and enjoyed it.
