Porter Begins Kindergarten

Guess who started his 1st day of Kindergarten today!  He was so excited. I drove him to school the first day and as soon as I saw all the older kids piling off the bus it just hit me.  This was it.  He would never be a little boy home all day with me again.  He was starting school and will always be in school now.  I caught myself by complete surprise and burst into years and grabbed my little sweet boy and held him tight.  He quickly spotted his neighbor friends and ran off to enter the school doors for the very first time.  Here I've been all summer long counting down the days til school starts and now I'm weeping over it.  I think I cried for 20 min after dropping him off.  He drove the bus home from school and I anxiously waited for him at the bus stop and asked how his first day of school was. "Mom," he says in an almost hushed tone. "I had to sit for like 10 hours!!"  I laughed right out loud. Of course his favorite parts of school and recess and riding the buss. He's growing up so quickly!
